Shout-out for six short film scripts!

Film maker, Declan Cassidy, is developing a feature-film project that will provide an opportunity for writers to see their short films produced and shown on cinema screens.

“Six o’ the best” will be a collection of six 15-minute short films that can be screened independently, or shown together as a feature. The films will share the theme of ‘modern Irish society’.

“Belonging, in Ireland, is no longer about red hair and freckles,” explained Declan. “Irishness, these days, is more about buying in to a sense of community and looking out for each other – regardless of where you were born, the colour of your skin, how you choose to identify, what you can or can’t do or who you choose to love. What I’m looking for, with these six short films, are scripts that show these many sides of Irish society.”

Writers who wish to submit a script for consideration are asked to do so through a form at https://declancassidy.com/scripts

“I want to leave it as open as possible,” said Declan, “but I’m hoping for uplifting stories. There are a lot of dark situations in the world these days. I think we could all do with a lift.”

The deadline for script submissions is November 25.
