Free content creation training

Film maker Declan Cassidy is leading the delivery of free digital media training this autumn, and there are 20 places up for grabs.

The training, funded by Coimisiún na Meán and non-profit audio visual organisation EurAV, will take place over five workshops with 10 participants and is to be run twice – once in September, and again in October.

“We’ll be based at the EurAV studio and training area in Drogheda and we’ll cover the digital content creation process from planning the project through camera, lighting, audio, interview techniques, editing and distribution,” explained Declan. “It’s designed to be a hands-on course and each participant will work on a short solo project over the course which will be part of their assessment.”

EurAV are involved in community media and hope that those trained might want to create content for community channels, but there is no obligation to do so.

“The bottom line is that there’s a lot of false information circulating online that’s really convincing. By training people to tell their own stories professionally, it means that people are getting their news straight from the horses mouth,” said Declan.

Anyone interested in applying for a free place on the course should fill in the short application here.
