The search for a silver screen music star… It could be you!

Multi award-winning film maker, Declan Cassidy’s new BAI-funded short film “Location, location, location!” will centre around two, parallel stories. One is that of a high-flying couple, Sara and Catey, whose relationship hangs by a thread because Catey promised to buy tickets for the final concert of “Melanee” – Sara’s music idol – and then slept through the alarm and found that they’d all sold out, in minutes, by the time she went online.

Melanee (pronounced ‘Melan-ee’) had retired, but is coming back for a final farewell concert and fans from all generations are biting off each other’s hands for tickets. We’ll feature a super-sized poster of the music star in the final scene of the film. And that picture of Melanee, could be you, or someone you nominate (with their permission, of course!).

WHAT DO I GET IF I’M CHOSEN TO BE ‘MELANEE’?

The person who is chosen to be featured as ‘Melanee’ in the film will receive the following:

1. Their picture on a giant poster, featured in the final scene of the film.

2. An acting credit as ‘Melanee’ in the end credits of the film.

3. An IMDb acting credit as ‘Melanee’ in the film.

4. A photoshoot to get the picture for the poster, with hair and make-up.

5. They get to keep the poster that was used in the film, signed by members of cast and crew.

WHO IS MELANEE? WHAT SHOULD MY PICTURE LOOK LIKE?

We don’t know everything about Melanee – you make that up – but we do know some things. She has a fan-base that crosses the generations, so she’s an older woman (If you’re young, then start thinking about asking your Mum or Gran to enter). She could be a Rock Goddess, like Blondie’s Debbie Harry or Tina Turner. She could be a Pop Star, like Kylie or Madonna. She could be an Indie Icon, like Bjork or Kate Bush. Or, she might be a Country Queen like Dolly Parton or Emmylou Harris. We know that her fans include Sara – a jet-setting female barber in her 20s or 30s, and a middle aged guy who is willing to sit in a yoga pose for 8 hours to queue for tickets. Oh – and we know that she spells her name with an extra ‘e’ at the end. That’s it. It’s up to you, now, to take a snap that convinces us that you’re the face of Melanee for our film!

The entry form can be found at https://declancassidy.eu/melanee and the closing date is midnight, March 24, 2023.
