New fashion TV show looking for people wanting to try their hands at fashion styling and modelling
If you’re a budding fashion designer, stylist or model, or if modelling or style are areas you’d love to try your hand at, then this could be for you!
Film maker Declan Cassidy has created six TV series in the past three years, and he’s looking for people to get involved in his latest. Re-Fashionista is a six-part series, currently in development, that will see five ‘re-fashionistas’, each design or style a sustainable fashion collection. They can used second hand, vintage, upcycled, eco-materials or whatever strikes the designer/stylist’s fancy, as long as their collection is a statement about swapping fast fashion trends for ones that show how to look WOW, without costing the planet.
“It’s early stages right now,” explained Declan. “We’re putting together the proposal and then it’s a matter of waiting to get the ‘green light’, so it’s likely to be autumn before any filming takes place, but we’re looking to recruit our five ‘re-fashionistas’ as early as possible so that they can start brainstorming about how their going to create a collection that’s fashion-fab and climate-conscious. I don’t know how many models the ‘re-fashionistas’ will need for the big catwalk show, but I imagine it could be somewhere between 20 and 30. We’ll be looking for diversity – different looks. It’s not about looking like you’ve walked off the pages of a magazine, it’s more about attitude.”
The TV series will see each of the five ‘re-fashionistas’ filmed as they come up with their ideas, and put together their collections, ready for the big catwalk show. Ahead of the fashion show the five collections will feature in a photoshoot with the models who will then wear them on the catwalk.
“It’s an opportunity for people to get some modelling shots to start a portfolio if they’re interested in looking for modelling work and, of course, a chance for the five ‘re-fashionistas’ to show what they can do as fashion designers or stylists,” said Declan.
